How we can help.
-
Canadian trademark registrations take a while, but some take longer than others.
Mistakes in your trademark application can delay your registration by years.
But a trademark lawyer can help you avoid problems and speed up the process.
-
Government fees can adds hundreds – even thousands – of dollars to the cost of your trademark application.
But an experienced trademark lawyer can help you optimize your application, maximizing your brand protection and minimizing your filing costs.
-
Approximately 70% of trademark applications receive objections from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, causing delays that can last for years.
Minor errors in the initial application cause many of these objections.
We help businesses avoid these mistakes, streamlining the trademark approval process.

FAQs.
-
Yes – if you want to protect your trademark in Canada.
Trademark registrations only apply to the jurisdictions where they are filed. That means a local trademark registration is the only way to properly protect your brand in Canada.
-
That depends. In 2025, a Canadian trademark registration can take anywhere from 16 months to 4+ years.
But with professional trademark guidance, you can often avoid being on the higher end of that range.
-
It can last decades.
Once your trademark application is approved, it will be registered for 10 years. At the end of the initial 10 year period, you can renew your registration for another 10 years (and repeat again and again).
-
You can trademark all sorts of things. Here are just a few examples:
Words
Logos
Slogans
Business Names
You can even trademark sounds, colours, smells, and tastes.
